Cisco Unified Presence enabled applications connect to and require several additional Unified Communications components to be fully functional. In order to begin developing basic presence API apps, you will need to obtain the following:

(Note, CUCM v5 and higher software can be installed into a Virtual Machine - such as VMWare - for development purposes)
Obtaining Unified CM running on VMWare
Cisco offers a fully functional version of Cisco Unified Communications Manager 6.0 licensed for development and test use only at a discounted price of US$547 that covers our costs. This product includes a license for 50 Device License Units, or DLUs. This version of the product runs only on the VMWare Player, which is available as a free download, and this SDK version of Unified Communications Manager comes with no warranties and no promised support.
