pyATS Release Highlights 20.8

pyATS Core Infrastructure:

  • Update to the report structure to bring processors and plugins in line with tasks and other test sections
  • Testbed validation now accessible as a Python function
  • Various fixes and improvements

Genie

  • Fixed api abstraction in cases where the common and platform specific api exists but the os level does not

  • Updated genie conf device to set the default alias to 'cli' if 'os' is not provided

  • Harness connection now logs ModuleNotFoundError tracebacks

  • Genie Blitz added converter to convert maple scripts into Blitz testscripts

  • Genie Blitz added looping functionality and conditional statement to help with writing more dynamic test scripts

  • 46 new IOSXE, IOS, NXOS, IOSXE and Junos parsers with a grand total of 2561 parsers

  • 86 new apis to use on your devices. Grand total of 911 APIs

[pyATS Health Check]

  • New Feature pyATS Health Check released
  • Monitor/Collect device status as pre/post processors to section during test run
  • Examples on GitHub and more coming
  • Continuous monitoring/checking as forked process will be coming for 20.9 release

[Genie Clean]

  • 'reload' stage has a NEW schema to allow every variable for the unicon reload service; see: reload stage

  • Stages 'copy_to_device' and 'copy_to_linux' now dynamically trim the server path configured under testbed.servers..path if it exists

  • Removed 'reload_file' argument from 'reload' stage. This feature is now the new 'install_image' stage

  • Modified connect stage to use prompt_recovery

  • Updated copy_to_linux added 'rename_images' argument to rename images

  • Fixed stage not being able to use more than once

  • Fixed the exit code in case clean fails

  • Modified ImageHandlers to have better error messages if the structure of images is invalid

  • [IOSXE] Added install_image and install_packages stages

  • [IOSXE] Modified change_boot_variable to save run to start after deleting existing variables

Unicon:

  • Infrastructure changed to support multi-connections (dual, stack & quad)
  • Infrastructure changed to support learn os feature in generic plugin
  • Enhanced cli proxy feature, now can support HA device
  • Allowed to set the connection terminal size via ROWS and COLUMNS environment variables for the connection
  • Updated spawn read method to ignore non-utf8 decoder errors
  • Allowed prompt_recovery to pass from connection class variable to service variable
  • Added trim line option in the unicon logging to trim empty lines

Unicon plugins:

  • Updated terminal size settings for NXOS/ACI/N9K and linux plugins.

  • [APIC] Added 'Error' to the list of error_patterns

  • [ASA] Added statement to handle for 'Proceed with reload?'

  • [IOSXE] Changed IOSXE plugin shell_prompt (non-greedy match on wildcard)

  • [IOSXE] Added stack and quad plugins to support devices with stack/quad chassis type

  • [IOSXR] Updated IOSXR/ncs5k STANDBY_STATE_REGEX in the setttings

  • [IOSXR] Added asr9k/ncs5k ha reload service

  • [Generic] Added learn_os feature for generic plugins redirect to corresponding plugin connection
