Licensing - Deregistration

To facilitate offline usage, after the CML server successfully authorizes the license, it will not release the license even if you stop the VM. Therefore, the Smart license servers will consider the license to be in use even when the CML VM is not running.

Before you delete, move, or re-deploy a CML VM, you must deregister the CML server to release its license. Only one CML deployment may be associated with each valid license.

To deregister your CML server from the Smart Licensing account and release the license, you must have network access to the CML server’s management IP address from your local system.

Procedure

Open a web browser and navigate to the Dashboard page of your CML server’s UI.

Click Tools ‣ Licensing (available only for an application account with administrator privileges) to open the Licensing page.

Check that the Registration Status currently indicates Registered.

If the Registration Status already indicates Unregistered, then this CML server has already been deregistered.

If the Registration Status is Registered, then it does not matter what the current License Authorization Status is. For example, it may indicate Authorized or Out of Compliance, and you will still be able to deregister the CML instance.

Click Actions ‣ Deregister.

The Deregistration dialog is shown.

Click the Deregister button in the dialog.

Once the deregistration is complete, your license is free and available for use on another system.

The Registration Status indicates Unregistered, and the License Authorization Status indicates Evaluation Mode.
