Generate Test Data

You can use the fsoc melt family of commands to generate test data, but these are not meant to replace a real data generator or exporter.

  1. Authenticate to fsoc with an agent principal because the fsoc melt commands only work for fsoc profiles authenicated with agent principals.

  2. Generate a MELT payload:

    1. Go to your solution's top level directory.
    2. Run the fsoc melt model command to generate a YAML file containing a MELT payload that's based on your solution's domain model. The generated file is named <solution-name>-<solution-version>-melt.yaml. The MELT payload contains simulated metrics, events, and logs.
      For example,

  3. (Optional) Edit the YAML file generated by the previous command. For example, you might want to define minimum and maximum limits for the metric values in this file:

  4. To send the MELT payload to the platform, run the fsoc melt send command. The platform uses your solution's MELT mapping rules to map the data in the payload to entities in your solution. For example,
