Preparing for Bare Metal Installation

To deploy CML on a bare metal server, you must first download both the controller ISO file and the reference platform ISO file.

The controller ISO file is a bootable DVD image that will install CML on your system. Once the installation is complete, your CML server will be running a base Linux OS and the CML UI, controller, and other services. After installation, you will need access to the CML server’s console to configure the initial system accounts and network settings. You may connect to the server’s local console or use the CIMC remote management console.

The refplat ISO file contains a VM image for each of the different node types that can be run in CML labs. You cannot start lab simulations in CML without the VM images from the refplat ISO.

  • CML bare metal deployments are only tested and supported on specific UCS hardware. See the System Requirements for more information.

  • Download the files needed for a bare metal deployment:
    • CML controller ISO file

    • the refplat ISO file

  • Verify Checksum (Optional).
