About XPRESSO Notifications
All auto-generated system messages in XPRESSO are called notifications. They provide a quick at-a-glance view of an event update. Some common examples of when you will receive a System notifications include:
- When you switch active groups.
- When your Job Request is complete.
- When your reservation transitions through a number of operational states such as Orchestrating, Queued, Reserved, and Active.
- When the Group Admin or System Admin completes an action (task) that has a direct impact to you such as adding you to a Group, or changing your Member role within a Group.
Accessing Notifications
Two methods are used to alert Users about XPRESSO Notifications:
When they occur: A pop-up notification message displays on the XPRESSO GUI when the event occurs to give you an immediate visual cue that something has changed or is in progress. This message only displays for a few seconds on the XPRESSO GUI and is obviously useful when you are actively using XPRESSO.
After they occur: All notifications are cached in a repository you can access to determine which events have triggered and what those changes are. This provides a secondary method to determine the status of an event if you missed the pop-up notification message. When you receive a new notification, the Alerts icon button on the Main Navigation bar shows a red dot to indicate a new notification has been received.
To Access Notifications:
From the Main Navigation Bar, choose Alerts to open the Alerts Messaging page.
Select the Notification tab. Notifications are listed by the date the event occurred.
Click the blue dot adjacent to the Notification to access the Notification details.
Notifications can be marked as read, or deleted permanently using the breadcrumb icon button located adjacent to each notification. Note that there is no way to recover deleted Notification from XPRESSO.
Controlling Notification Verbosity
Group Admin have the ability to control the verbosity of when XPRESSO sends out some notifications. For example, a Group Admin can set the verbosity of when you receive notifications as a reservation as it transitions through its various operational states. Up to 10 different Reservation transitional states can be toggled ON or OFF to meet your operational requirements.
See "Configuring Group Preferences" for more information.
