OSes
Operating Systems (OSes), Branches and Platforms are related topics as they provide a method to associate metadata (descriptor info that acts as a build/release tag, alias, or label) with devices, device images, and Job Runs. XPRESSO in turn, correlates the applied metadata allowing you to perform additional data filtration, aggregation, charting, and analytics with your test results and as a means to set a baseline.
This topic describes OS metadata; see the Branches topic and Platform topic for the other two ways to apply metadata.
When XPRESSO is installed, it comes pre-populated with the most used/prevalent platform Operating Systems (OS), for example: aireos, ios, ioxr, and linux.
You can view the current registered OSes on the Registered OS page. Device OS names are registered in a lower-case string format.
An operating system is associated to a platform and the image. OS metadata is relevant when associating a Clean file with a Job Request and as part of a Clean operation associated with DUT images.
For OS metadata associated with a Platform: See the Platform topic for information about how you associate an OS with an applicable platform.
Requesting a New OS
In the event your OS type is not registered in XPRESSO, you can make a request to the System Administrator to add it. This allows you to associate/apply OS metadata with your Job Runs (via the applicable Branch or Platform) to assist with tracking purposes and to make working with test results easier.
To Request a New OS:
From the Main Navigation Bar, choose Main Menu→ENVIRONMENT→OS to open the Registered OS page.
Click the Request a new OS button located on the top-right side of the page. The Request a New OS form appears.
Configure the Name parameter and click the Send Request button. The request is forwarded to the System Admin for processing.
Adding (Registering) New OSes
Only the System Admin can register an new OS in XPRESSO:
To Add (Register) a New OS:
