User Profile & User Preferences
About User Profile & User Preferences
You can access and configure the following sub-menus from the Main Navigation Bar→Login Name/Active Group Icon button→Profile menu; see below for sub-menu details:
- User Details
- API Token
- Password
- My Preferences
NOTE:
After you access and log into XPRESSO for the first time, you must accurately configure your Preferred Time Zone via the My Preferences menu since all content reported by XPRESSO is automatically associated with your preferred time zone. You can customize both the Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) time zone and time display format to suite your operational/preferred format. See the My Preferences Menu sub-topic below for details.
User Profile/User Preferences Details
This is a read-only panel. Indicates your user name used to login into XPRESSO and email address details. Also indicates the last time you logged into XPRESSO, and the date you became a registered user.
Displays the current API (access) automation token used for REST APIs (and libraries), and all other systems that communicate or interface with XPRESSO using REST APIs, and the API token expiration date.
NOTE:
The XPRESSO API automation token can only be used to interact with XPRESSO REST APIs and cannot be used for any API token fields within the XPRESSO application itself. For example, when creating a new Jenkins execution engine, you are required to enter the API token obtained from Jenkins itself, not the XPRESSO-generated API automation token. Follow this guide for information about how to obtain a Jenkins API token.
Access to the XPRESSO dashboard requires user authentication; all other forms of access such as REST APIs requires the use of an access token. For example, to authenticate a "Job Request" REST API, the REST API HTTP header require the AUTHORIZATION
parameter with the access token used as the value to authenticate.
CAUTION!
Your access token is a direct replacement of your user credentials for API use. Do not share it with 3rd parties.
A Copy button allows you to copy your current API automation token to the clipboard for use with 3rd party applications.
The API token form also has a Obtain New Token button and should only be used as directed by the XPRESSO technical support team to troubleshoot localized security issues.
If you obtain a new token, you must update all 3rd party dependencies that use the token to ensure secure/continuing login access including:
- REST APIs and libraries.
- All other devices that communicate/interface with XPRESSO using REST APIs.
Allows users to change their password they first used to login in XPRESSO; you need to enter your current password credentials first to perform this action.
NOTE:
The Password menu can only be accessed and viewed by non-Cisco users and System Administrators.
Allows you to customized the following User Preferences to suit your operational needs or preferred format:
Date and Time menu:
CAUTION:

- Preferred Time Format: Allows you to control the verbosity of how time fields are displayed on the XPRESSO dashboard.
