Add asset
Alert: Cisco has made the end-of-life (EOL) announcement for the Cisco Industrial Asset Vision (IAV).
Your role should have the required permission to perform this action.
- From the left menu, click Inventory > Assets.
- From the right pane, click Add Asset and complete the following fields.

| Name | Enter the name for the asset. |
| Model | Enter the model number for the asset. |
| Description | Provide an optional description. |
| Organization Hierarchy | Click Click to assign to assign the Asset to a specified Level in the Organization Hierarchy. Select a Level from the Assign Org Hierarchy list. Click  to expand the hierarchy and  to collapse the hierarchy. You can also search for the Level in the Find Hierarchy search field above the hierarchy. Start typing to narrow down the search. Click Assign. |
| Asset Type | Select an asset type from the drop-down list. |
| Custom Attributes | This field is auto-populated based on the attributes configured for the Asset Type to which the Asset belongs. |
| Upload Asset Image | Add an image for the asset. Click Choose file to upload and select an image file. Notes: * Only .jpg and .png files are accepted. * The maximum file size allowed is 1 MB. * For best appearance, square-shaped images are preferred. |
| Location | Enter the location for the asset. * Type in the location name and click  . The map will show the location. You can then drag the marker to the exact address on the map.* Click Use my Location for your current location. Note: Use my Location link may not fetch your exact location on the map. This can be because of various factors such as browser settings, user denying the app permission to access location, internet connectivity issues, etc. The map can be viewed in the default or satellite mode. |
- Click Add.
