Configure and view alert rules
View Alerts
Alerts appear for the following scenarios:
- When a policy is unhealthy as the policy status changed from Running to any other state. The open alerts of this policy are closed if the status goes back to Running.
- When EI agent status changed from Online to Offline. The open alerts are closed once the status goes back to Online.
- Alerts are created when data delivery is impacted, and alerts are closed when there is no issue with data delivery.
- From the left pane, click Operations and then click on the Alerts. List of the active alerts are shown under Active tab. There are also Closed and Alert Rules tabs.
- For EI agent, click on the EI Agent Offline. A detailed EI Agent Offline page appears with options to Troubleshoot, Configure Alert Rule and Exclude this entity.
- For policy, click on the Policy Unhealthy. A detailed Policy Unhealthy page of data logic appears with options to Troubleshoot, Configure Alert Rule and Exclude this entity.
- For data delivery, click on the Data Delivery Impacted. A detailed Data Delivery Impacted page appears with options to Configure Alert Rule and Exclude this entity.
- Click in the Search bar to see these icons. Start typing a text string, then hit Return.
The searched devices appear in the table.
The search bar includes the following:
- Search function across the entire list of devices, not just the first records shown.
- Filter function which allows you to focus your search using more specific criteria based on severity, name, or entity.
- Click on the Refresh icon to view the latest alerts list.
- Click Troubleshoot under the Action column for the respective EI agent. The troubleshooting page of the EI agent appears.
- Click Troubleshoot under the Action column for the respective data rule. The troubleshooting page of the data rule and the related agents information appears.
- Click on the status to understand the issue in detail.
- Click Troubleshoot under the Action column for the respective data logic. The Status tab under the data logics appears.
- Click on the status to understand the issue in detail.
- Click Closed to view the list of closed alerts.
Enable/Disable the Alert Configurations
- From the left pane, click Operations and then click on the Alerts. List of the latest active alerts are shown under Active tab.
- Click Alert Rules. A table appears with three default rules, one is EI agent offline, Policy Unhealthy, and Data Delivery Impacted.
- Click on the slider to enable or disable the alerts.
Once you enable the Policy Unhealthy alert, the alerts related to rule will only appear if there are any events happening to that rule/EI agent.
Note: If an alert rule is disabled, then the existing open alerts raised when the alert rule was enabled will get closed.
Configure Alert Rules for an EI Agent
- From the left pane, click Operations and then click on the Alerts. List of the latest active alerts are shown under Active tab.
- Click on the Alert Rules.
- Click EI Agent Offline. The EI Agent Offline page appears.
- Click Configure next to Summary. A Configure Alert Rule page appears.
- Under step 1 (Alert Type), check the details of alert rule name and severity and click NEXT.
- Under step 2 (Configurations):
- Fill the threshold values in minutes for which the EI agent creates an alert once it goes offline and also closes an alert once it goes online.
- Select all the roles from the drop-down which requires to be notified.
- Check the type of notifications like email or SMS.
- Click Next.
Note: Any changes to the values in this step will apply to the next alert generation, and the existing alerts won't be revised/updated.
- Under step 3 (Exclusion List), check all the EI agents that you want to exclude from the alert rule. Click Next.
Note: The currently open alerts will close immediately if an agent is added to the exclusion list.
- Check all the settings again under step 4 (Review).
- Click Finish. A success pop-up appears.
Configure Alert Rules for Data Policy
- From the left pane, click Operations and then click on the Alerts. List of the latest active alerts are shown under Active tab.
- Click on the Alert Rules.
- Click Policy Unhealthy. The Policy Unhealthy page appears.
- Click Configure next to Summary. A Configure Alert Rule page appears.
- Under step 1 (Alert Type), check the details of alert rule name and severity and click NEXT.
- Under step 2 (Configurations):
- Fill the threshold values in minutes for which the data policy creates an alert once the status is not All Running and closes an alert once the status changes to All Running.
- Select all the roles from the drop-down which requires to be notified.
- Check the type of notifications like email or SMS.
- Click Next.
Note: Any changes to the values in this step will apply to the next alert generation, and the existing alerts won't be revised/updated.
- Under step 3 (Exclusion List), check all the data policies that you want to exclude from the alert rule. Click Next.
Note: The currently open alerts will close immediately if an agent is added to the exclusion list.
- Check all the settings again under step 4 (Review).
- Click Finish. A success pop-up appears.
Configure alert rules for Data Delivery Impacted
- From the left pane, click Operations and then click on the Alerts. List of the latest active alerts are shown under Active tab.
- Click on the Alert Rules.
- Click Data Delivery Impacted. The Data Delivery Impacted page appears.
- Click Configure next to Summary. A Configure Alert Rule page appears.
- Under step 1 (Alert Type), check the details of alert rule name and severity and click NEXT.
- Under step 2 (Configurations):
- Fill the threshold values in minutes for which the data delivery creates an alert once it is impacted and closes an alert once it is not impacted.
- Select all the roles from the drop-down which requires to be notified.
- Check the type of notifications like email or SMS.
Note: Users who are associated with roles will not receive SMS notifications, if they do not have phone numbers in their profile.
- Click Next.
Note: Any changes to the values in this step will apply to the next alert generation, and the existing alerts won't be revised/updated.
- Under step 3 (Exclusion List), check all the data policies that you want to exclude from the alert rule. Click Next.
Note: The currently open alerts will close immediately if an agent is added to the exclusion list.
- Check all the settings again under step 4 (Review).
- Click Finish. A success pop-up appears.
